The Prague Public Transit Company has started construction of the second section of metro line D Olbrachtova – Nové Dvory. The legal team of the law firm Portos, in cooperation with the law firm Brodec & Partners, participated in the administration of this key contract. The new section will connect to the part already under construction Pankrác D – Olbrachtova, and together upon completion will create an operational section of five new metro stations.

The second stage of the metro D project includes the construction of three new stations: Nádraží Krč, Nemocnice Krč, and Nové Dvory, as well as follow-on track, technological, and access tunnels. The contractor for this strategic transport investment worth approximately 30 billion CZK is a consortium of contractors led by Subterra.

The path to entering into a contract with the contractor in April 2026 and the subsequent commencement of construction led through months of demanding legal preparations and review procedures. The process was slowed by repeated submissions of objections and petitions for review of the contracting authority’s procedure, both regarding the authority’s decision on the selection of the supplier and in the case of excluding one of the participants of the procurement procedure due to non-fulfillment of tender conditions. However, the Office for the Protection of Competition confirmed the contracting authority’s procedure. In the last-mentioned case, the participant even filed an administrative action, which was subsequently withdrawn.

"The construction of the Olbrachtova – Nové Dvory section represents for Prahu one of the most significant transport milestones of recent years. Upon completion, the first fully operational section of the new D line will be created, providing a faster, more reliable, and more ecological connection for tens of thousands of residents in the southern part of the metropolis. That is why I am very pleased that as Portos we are actively contributing to its smooth implementation," says Roman Kyral, partner (of a law firm) of the law firm Portos.

The currently started section I.D1b connects to the already implemented part Pankrác D – Olbrachtova. The completion of both sections will significantly strengthen the transport serviceability of the southern part of Prahy and form the basis for the future development of the entire new line.

The project also includes the preparatory construction of the related single-track tunnels as part of the next stage of development of line D. These tunnels, with a total length of almost three kilometers, will be mostly routed under the streets Novodvorská and Libušská towards the future depot in Písnici. This will create important technical infrastructure for further continuation of the route construction to the south of the city.
