The law firm CÍSAŘ, ČEŠKA, SMUTNÝ has confirmed its leading position in Pro Bono and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by winning the Law Firm of the Year competition in this category for the ninth time. In addition, the firm was recognized as highly recommended or recommended in 13 other categories. This achievement marks their best-ever result and solidifies their place among the top law firms in the Czech market.
Besides winning the Pro Bono and CSR category, the firm was recognized as highly recommended in the areas of Corporate Law, Competition Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, Restructuring and Insolvency, Dispute Resolution and Arbitration, Public Procurement, Corporate Compliance, Energy and Energy Projects, Logistics and Transport Infrastructure, Healthcare Law, and Environmental Law. The law firm AKCCS was also recommended in the categories of Information Technology Law and Criminal Law. This builds on last year’s successful results, which they have improved, achieving their highest number of awards in history.
AKCCS has an exceptional impact beyond law, particularly in culture and the arts. This is a continuous and long-term effort through which AKCCS seeks to contribute to the cultivation of Czech society, both through the Bohemian Heritage Fund—a foundation supporting numerous projects mainly in classical music and visual arts—and by motivating clients. The flagship project of the foundation remains the ongoing fundraising for new organs for St. Vitus Cathedral.
AKCCS also focuses extensively on projects related to ESG, representing sustainable business and lasting societal values. These are goals the firm has long promoted not only internally but also uses as criteria for selecting projects and clients. In 2021, as much as 67% of AKCCS’s cases involved ESG projects, and 72% of all billable hours for clients were related to ESG.
“Winning the Pro Bono and CSR category, which we have now won for the ninth time, is becoming increasingly important on a societal level and confirms the correctness of our approach. ESG principles are today demanded ever more strictly. This is not merely a regulatory issue; it is rather a matter of requirements from the financial sector to which we must adapt. Some may see this as an attack on business freedom, but the opposite is true — from our own practice and regular communication with entrepreneurs, we know that the more developed an ESG strategy a company has, which it can communicate clearly and understandably to the public, the more valuable it is,” said AKCCS partner Petr Michal.
His words are confirmed by Jan Sůra, partner at AKCCS: “Proper understanding and implementation of ESG must happen as soon as possible. We therefore regard the results of this survey as a significant success and confirmation of the comprehensiveness of our expert activities in the area of sustainability, which we have been engaged in long-term, particularly concerning projects linked to the ESG phenomenon.”
