A practice
forged in experience
These days, it’s virtually impossible to imagine a successful law firm without solid practical legal experience. In commercial law (our main area of expertise) and full-spectrum international legal counsel alike, we must be ready to respond to our clients’ requirements and offer not only legal advice, but also strategic guidance for their business.

A lawyer’s calling is to listen, understand what the client needs, and deliver effective solutions with lasting value. Whether the matter concerns commercial contracts, regulatory frameworks, or international law, the aim is always to provide the client with a global perspective and a workable solution.

When Pavel Smutný and I founded the firm over thirty years ago, our priority was to concentrate on specific legal issues and provide answers that were not merely theoretical, but that proved effective in practice. Our approach is based not on abstract legal constructs, but on the ability to resolve the real-world challenges our clients face.
With over three decades in legal practice, I am convinced that a strong foundation in law lies in practical experience, constantly refined by work on specific, often complex, cases. At Portos, we build on this hands-on expertise, enabling us to respond to shifting market dynamics and the growing needs of our clients. We are constantly learning from every case, every situation, and every client interaction. That is the essence of everything we do. It is the grounding on which we build our future.
