Markéta Flanderková: Czechs are discovering trust funds

25 \ 05 \ 2022

In the Czech Republic, hundreds of new trust funds will be established this year. Last year was already a record year. The trend among wealthy Czechs, which was sparked by the pandemic, is continuing to grow even stronger.

During the last two pandemic years, the number of trust funds increased markedly—by two thousand. In total, Czechs now have assets stored in roughly four thousand such funds. According to lawyer Markéta Šlejharová, the pandemic had a decisive influence on many people’s decisions. She estimates that this year’s increase will be similar, with several hundred more funds expected to be completed just this year.

“The pandemic gave us a chance to pause a bit and reflect on what comes next. During the pandemic, we were confronted more closely with questions about death and the incapacity or inability to manage business precisely because of COVID-19,” explains Markéta Šlejharová, whose professional specialization includes trust and foundation funds.
