The Constitutional Court rejected senators' proposals to repeal parts of the consolidation package.

09 \ 07 \ 2025

Senators have advocated for the protection of municipal rights and legal certainty for citizens. A group of nineteen members of the upper chamber, led by Michael Canov, proposed repealing parts of the law that they believe contain unacceptable legislative amendments and restrict local government. They therefore turned to the Constitutional Court with a proposal to repeal - for example, changes in the distribution of gambling tax, unclear definitions of built-up areas of municipalities, and hastily adopted amendments to the Accounting Act. However, the Constitutional Court rejected their proposals.
