The Czech society has been growing wealthier in recent years, while at the same time, a generation of people who have been building their businesses since the 1990s is now reaching retirement age and looking for ways to pass them on to their descendants. Last but not least, thanks to the new Civil Code, regulations on trust funds have been in effect for ten years, all of which has resulted in an increasing demand for these legal instruments. The next guest on the e15 Cast was Jakub Hollmann, a lawyer and partner at the law firm Portos and an expert on trust funds, who spoke with Jan Novotný about how interest in them is developing and what lies behind their success.
"These owners realize that if they want to keep control over their assets even after they pass away, they naturally choose to place their assets into the property structures of trust funds. They don’t leave it to the state, which through a notary manages the inheritance process and lets a third party decide about the assets," Hollmann added.
What about taxes when someone sets up a trust fund? How has the reputation of trust funds been influenced by the example of Andrej Babiš? How can a family business be prepared for transfer to the next generation? And how will the rise of artificial intelligence affect the legal profession? Listen to the full interview on e15 Cast with Jakub Hollmann from the law firm Portos, hosted by Jan Novotný (March 21).
